The Group interacts with a range of stakeholders in different geographies. Communication with employees has been enhanced with the introduction of an online portal that is updated frequently with topical news items and announcements. Those employees without access to electronic media are updated via a series of company notice boards.
Regular contact is maintained at a local level with the Group’s communities, with more frequent, in-depth interactions planned with community leaders going forward, in order to engage more constructively with them.
Customer relationships are valued as being essential to the existence of the Group. These relationships range from being strategic to transactional. Customer site-visits are encouraged as they lead to an improved common understanding.
Commitment to employment equity and workforce diversity is an integral part of the business plan. Training and adult education programmes are aimed at empowering employees, particularly those from previously disadvantaged groups, to achieve their full potential.
