WESTFALIA FRUIT GROUP

Westfalia Fruit (Pty) Ltd is a multinational, 12-months-of-the-year supplier of fresh subtropical fruit and related products to international markets. Westfalia grows and sources avocados across the globe, and processes and packs related products such as avocado oil, guacamole and dried mango in its facilities.

Leader in sustainable management of resources and environment

As a result of strong supply partnerships, Westfalia markets fruit from all over the world, and is developing orchards in new origins with its partners. Major retailers are serviced from sales offices located in South Africa, Netherlands, England (Greencell Ltd), France (Comexa SA), Austria (WMO Fruchthandel), Colombia (Westsole), Peru (Camet Trading), Chile and California. In addition to marketing services, ripening, packing and handling facilities are operated at these locations. The Group leads the sourcing of avocados from Africa, channelling around 50% of South Africa’s avocado exports to Europe, and imports around 23% of all avocados into Europe. This makes Westfalia one of Europe’s largest importers and distributors of fresh fruit.

Westfalia’s accreditations include internationally-recognised GLOBALGAP, Fairtrade, LEAF, BRC, Tesco Nurture, Farming for the Future, EC Reg 2092-91 and HACCP. These accreditations are international audit benchmarks that provide consumers with the assurance that Westfalia is committed to produce hygienic, safe and healthy food while ensuring the sustainable and responsible management of its bio-resources and the communities and environment in which it operates.

Westfalia’s nurseries, research and product-development facilities are important contributors to the production of high-quality produce. Westfalia Technological Services (WTS) is one of the largest privately-funded subtropical research organisations in the world, focusing on varietal development, product innovation and environmental issues.
