Oranges

Sweet and juicy, oranges are a refreshingly healthy treat packed full of goodness. Navel oranges are the most prolific variety available, but because they do not contain seeds, they require grafting for the creation of new trees. While one orange tree can bear up to 60,000 flowers, only 1% of these turn into fruit.

Orange is one of the world’s favourite flavours. Contrary to popular belief, it does not get its name from its colour, but rather from the Tamil word for ‘fragrant’.

Oranges in Chile

Among Agricom’s citrus exports, Navel orange is the fastest growing fruit. Orchards are distributed along the different climate zones in a way that we can offer full season and late varieties with the best flavour, colour, size and presentation from June to September.

Nutritional benefits

Nutrients in oranges are plentiful and diverse. The fruit is low in calories, contains no saturated fats or cholesterol, and contains plenty of dietary fibre. Oranges, like other citrus fruits, are an excellent source of Vitamin C, a powerful natural antioxidant. They can help improve heart health and cholesterol levels, boost the immune system and reduce the risk of respiratory diseases.
